Terroir
“A beautiful land, which we immediately fell in love with.”
Tenuta Campo al Signore, with its vineyards, is located right along the Via Bolgherese, the road that leads from Castagneto Carducci to one of the best areas for viticulture in Italy.
The protection of the hills, the proximity to the sea, the ventilation, the direct and reflected light contribute to a slow and regular maturation of the grapes that gives the wines structure, balance and elegance. All typical characteristics of the wine products of this terroir.
Not only a unique territory by typology:
Bolgheri is an idea, a mosaic of images, a cradle of dreams and real ambitions. An avenue of cypresses that has opened the doors to the new Italian winemaking, leading its wines under the spotlight of the world.
The lush Mediterranean scrub on one side, the sea that outlines the Tyrrhenian coast on the other. An unrepeatable territory painted with green, blue and brown with an exceptional microclimate for the production of great wines.

Sustainability
A development is sustainable when it is able to meet the needs of current generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. In particular sustainable viticulture. A global approach commensurate with the production systems of grape transformation, combining at the same time the economic longevity of structures and terroirs, the obtaining of quality products, the consideration of the needs of precision viticulture, risks related to the environment, product safety, consumer health and the valorization of heritage, historical, cultural, ecological and aesthetic aspects.
The Tenuta Campo al Signore team takes into great consideration the sustainable development of our planet in general and in particular of our lands and our fruits, where it can pragmatically engage in concrete activities of protection and development.
In the following notes, we will try to tell in a simple and understandable way what we are doing, emphasizing that what we write we do in practice and not representing mere declarations of intent. Furthermore, we are committed to continuing in the future this path that has no alternatives.

The vineyards
The perfect nature of this territory meets the passions of Valentina and Luca.
Our vineyards are divided into 4 plots, all named after an Italian car brand. In fact, Valentina and Luca, great enthusiasts and collectors, wanted to unite their two great passions: the world of cars and Bolgheri wine.
Here the vineyards, thanks to the particular soil, mostly sandy and the direct exposure to the sea, are an expression of freshness and elegance.
MASERATI VINEYARD
Our historic plot, over 25 years old, is mainly composed of Merlot, the backbone of our Bolgheri DOC: fresh fruit, elegance and great structures. But not only that, here we also have Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.
ALFA ROMEO VINEYARD
In this 7-year-old vineyard, we have Petit Verdot and our Cabernet Sauvignon: an expression of longevity, depth and elegance.
FERRARI VINEYARD
With this plot we go to the young part of the company. 2 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, 5 years of expression of freshness and elegance.
LAMBORGHINI VINEYARD
Our Cabernet Franc, 2 hectares of fruit, spice and elegance.
In the vineyard

Monitoring consumption of fuels and phytosanitary products, specifically Campo al Signore has been an organic company for all products, wine and oil since 2022.
Green manure , in order to reduce the number of mechanical steps and the dispersion of energy caused by logistics, to guarantee the supply of organic matter and nutrients, the company has decided to set up the annual sowing of green manure crops. These are planted in the autumn period through minimal processing and allow us to guarantee the reintegration of the elements, but also to better structure the soil through the action of the root system of legumes and grasses present in the various mixtures. In order to increase biodiversity, today but also in the future, the company plans to develop more and more mixed green manures and in function of the increase in the entomofauna present.
Sub-irrigation, to reduce water consumption while ensuring the effectiveness of interventions for the sustenance of plants, the company has decided to set up sub-irrigation systems on most of the vineyards and olive groves. Thanks to this technique it is possible to significantly reduce evaporation losses and also limit the number of mechanical passages for the management of weeds, thus also reducing the impact of emissions.
Monitoring , since the early years of development the company has chosen to invest in monitoring both the main meteorological parameters and the main pathogenic insects present in vineyards and olive groves, so as to be able to set up an accurate defense to limit as much as possible phytosanitary interventions that are often superfluous or negative for the biodiversity present in the field. For the same reason, it plans to invest in sexual confusion in the future in order to further reduce both the use of phytosanitary products and the number of interventions during the year.

Monitoring water and energy consumption, in particular the company is committed to reducing the average weight of the glass bottle used as primary packaging for wine and the energy consumption of the winery per liter of wine produced.
The company built an agro-voltaic energy plant in 2023 in order to also use the land underneath the solar panels. The green energy produced is sufficient to meet the company's needs. LED lamps have also been installed in order to minimize energy consumption.
